After a long day at work, many people dream of hitting the pillow to recuperate. Unfortunately, the amount of light in a room can often make or break whether you get a good night of sleep—and that’s all controlled by whether you’ve got the right treatment at the window. At Georgia Blinds & Interiors here in Atlanta, we know a thing or two about getting good rest, especially in a room with the right amount of darkness. If you think your sleep is suffering because of your window treatments, speak with one of our consultants today.
Darkness Preferences
Everyone is different. Many Americans prefer a totally dark room to get a good night’s sleep, but you might want something a little different. How much light do you want in your windows in the morning? Do you like to rise with sun? Or would you rather not get up with the birds? Maybe a semi-opaque fabric that allows muted light to enter the room is more your style. Regardless of your choice, Hunter Douglas offers the perfect window fashions to meet your needs. Every Hunter Douglas window covering provides some measure of light control, depending on the fabric and color you select, light gaps, seams, and rout holes. Keep in mind that window shades and blinds cannot completely eliminate incoming light as there are inherently slight light gaps.
Blocking the Light
For total darkness, go with a blackout option, and consider mounting your blinds or shades on the outside of your window frame to minimize the light gap. On wood and aluminum blinds, Hunter Douglas offers the de-Light™ feature, which eliminates the rout holes. Other options that can help you achieve blackout include roller shades, shutters, and Duette® Honeycomb Shades—both horizontal and vertical applications.
Room-Darkening
Semi-opaque and opaque materials almost completely block out the light. Hunter Douglas offers numerous window coverings with room-darkening materials, such as Silhouette® Window Shadings, Duette® Honeycomb Shades, and Pirouette® Window Shadings.
Adding a Liner
You can also a liner to achieve room-darkening levels. Many Hunter Douglas products can include a liner. You might choose from designer roller shades, Provenance® Woven Woods, and Silhouette® Window Fashions.
