
Because the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015, which gave federal tax credits on select energy-efficient products, have been reinstated for 2016, at Georgia Blinds & Interiors here in Atlanta, we’re happy to say that some of our customers might be able to get additional savings. Tax Credit Opportunity
You must purchase have installed a qualifying product by December 31, and you’ll be eligible to receive a tax credit of 10% of the cost (excluding sales tax and measuring and installation charges), up to $500 in total during the 2016 tax year. $500 is the maximum combined total amount that can be claimed for all purchases of qualifying energy-efficient products placed in service during this period. This is subject to reduction in the amount of Section 25C tax credits taken in prior years. The tax credit for your qualifying Hunter Douglas product is 10% of the purchase price of the product only, up to $500. The tax credit is subject to a lifetime limitation of $500.
What’s Eligible?
The following energy-efficient Hunter Douglas products are eligible:
- Alustra® Collection of Duette® Architella® honeycomb shades of certain sizes with qualifying fabrics and lifting systems that are inside-mounted over a double-glazed window.
- Duette® Architella® honeycomb shades of certain sizes with qualifying fabrics and lifting systems that are inside-mounted over a double-glazed window.

Duette Architella Energy Efficiency
While most Hunter Douglas window shades have some energy-saving benefits, some have a higher rating than others. Duette Architella honeycomb shades, for example, have a patented cell-within-a-cell design, that uses three distinct air pockets to trap cold air in the winter and heat from the sun in the summer so you pay less on your energy bill.
