Did you know that, each year, the Pantone Color Institute selects a new Color of the Year? In fact, last year, they actually chose two in tandem. Each year, the new color is the trend you’ll see all over the place, from vehicles to sweaters. And it can even be something you add to your home—in small doses or large amounts. To see a sample of this year’s color or to discuss ways to add color to your décor, speak with a trained professional at Georgia Blinds & Interiors serving the greater Atlanta area. We’ll be happy to help.
This Year’s Color
To help people connect with the natural world, the Pantone Color Institute selected Greenery as the trend for 2017. Calling the yellow-green, snow pea color “nature’s neutral” and a “life-affirming shade,” the group says that Greenery is “emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.” From the new leaf green Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster to the flourishing foliage colors used by Gucci and Prada, this color will be everywhere this year.
Why Do We Need Yearly Forecasted Colors?

Architella® Honeycomb Shades
All industries that produce a product for fashion, home furnishings, hospitality, and automotive follow forecasted trends. The forecasted colors start in fashion and then move to home furnishings, hospitality, and finally automotive. Each industry takes the forecasted color direction and adjusts it to their area and products. Warmer-climate colors may be lighter, and cooler-climate colors may be a bit darker than the actual forecasted color.
Incorporating Greenery
Incorporating this new color into your décor is easier than you might think. Add a little or add a lot. If you’re considering new window treatments, you could select from several nature-inspired “greenery” options, such as the Duette® Architella® Honeycomb Shade in Oregano, Design Studio™ Roman Shades in Pesto or Parsley, Silhouette® Window Shading in Painter’s Passion, Vignette® Modern Roman Shades in Clover Field, Lightlines® Aluminum Blinds in Julep, or Cadence® Soft Vertical Blinds with Camille fabric in Thyme, to name a few.
Handling Trending Colors
For this year, Greenery is leading the way. But if you don’t like that color, don’t worry. Just wait a year, and a new color will be announced. Remember that trends are just that—passing fads!
