This year, not one, but two colors share the spotlight in the annual selection of the Color of the Year. This is exciting news in the window fashions industry, as, each year, we look to see what might adorn our homes as a trending color. So, at Georgia Blinds & Interiors serving the greater Atlanta area, we’re happy to introduce Rose Quartz and Serenity as the 2016 Colors of the Year. Read on to learn more!
A Calm and Peaceful Entrance
Over the years, consumers’ lives have become more and more stressful and hectic, and now people are looking for a way to create a sense of calm in their lives. Enter Rose Quartz and Serenity, a color combination designed to evoke a sense of tranquility, order, wellness, and peace. Called “persuasive yet gentle” by the Pantone Color Institute, the lovely pinkish hue of Rose Quartz (Pantone color 13-1520) helps to balance the “weightless and airy” Serenity (Pantone color 15-3919), creating a feeling of calm. Who Says We Need Forecasted Colors?

For years, industries have looked to the forecasted colors to produce their wares, whether it’s the fashion industry, the home furnishings industry, or even the automotive industry. You see them all the time, even if you don’t consciously realize it. After all, when you walk into an outdated hotel lobby, can’t you already tell the year it was designed by the colors in the room?
Who Picks the Forecasted Colors of the Year and Why?
The Color Marketing Group, which is made up of The Pantone Color Institute alongside prominent and knowledgeable color/trend forecasters in home décor and fashion, meets twice each year to decide what the colors will be for the next two years. Before they meet, they must study past trends and forecast future ones and understand the environment of the time. They base the forecast on understanding where we are, where we want to go, and how people are feeling or not feeling in our society as a whole. Things like the economy, current and foreign events, and whether we’re at war influence the choice.
